A home lift is one of the few things in your house that carries people between floors every day, so home lift maintenance isn’t optional. The good news: for an Aritco home lift, it’s also not complicated. A certified technician handles the technical work on a set schedule, and you handle a few simple habits in between.

This guide is written for owners of Aritco home lifts installed by HD Homelift Solutions, the certified Philippine partner of Aritco. It covers the official service schedule, what you can (and shouldn’t) do yourself, how to handle brownouts, humidity, typhoons and flooding, and what our care plans cost.

Quick answer: Aritco recommends the first service six months after installation, then at least one service every year, plus a more thorough inspection every five years. HD Homelift Solutions’ residential care plans include two preventive maintenance visits a year, four emergency visits, a drive screw oil change, and a VIP hotline.

The Aritco home lift service schedule

Aritco’s own guidance is clear: the first service shoud happen six months after installation, followed by at least one service per year, and an extended inspection every five years. Here’s how that fits together with HD Homelift Solutions’ care plans and your own routine.

WhenWhoWhat happens
Daily / weeklyYouUse the lift normally, keep the floor and door thresholds clear, and notice any change in sound or movement
MonthlyYouWipe down the car interior and control panel, vacuum door tracks and thresholds, check the SmartLift app for alerts (if your lift is connected)
6 months after installationCertified technicianFirst service, per Aritco’s recommendation
Every 6 monthsHD Homelift Care TeamPreventive maintenance visit (two per year for residential lifts under HD care plans)
At least once a yearCertified technicianAritco’s minimum annual service: doors and safety edges, cable fixations and electrical connections, lubrication, platform alignment
Every yearHD Homelift Care TeamAritco drive screw oil change (included in both HD care plans)
Every 5 yearsCertified technicianExtended service: guide shoes, drive screw mechanism and drive nut, and the lift’s fixation points
After a typhoon, flood, or long brownoutHD Homelift Care TeamInspection before normal use if water, debris, or electrical issues may have reached the lift

You don’t have to track the dates yourself. Six months after installation, the HD Homelift Solutions aftersales team will call you to schedule your first preventive maintenance service (PMS).

What happens during a home lift maintenance visit

Every HD Homelift Solutions maintenance check follows the same five-step routine, carried out by technicians trained directly by Swedish Aritco-certified technicians:

  1. Function check and test. The technician runs the lift and listens and watches for anything unusual — noises, jerks, lights, or display issues.
  2. Doors, platform and parts. Doors, platform, buttons, switches, lighting, and other wear-prone parts are inspected.
  3. Gear check. The drive system is checked for anything that needs immediate repair.
  4. Lubrication. Where needed, the gears get Aritco’s original-formula lubricant so the lift keeps running smoothly.
  5. Safety and final check. The lift is run again for a final safety inspection before the visit is closed.

Aritco’s annual service covers the same ground in more technical detail, including checking the safety edges, cable fixations, electrical connections, and how level the platform travels. Aritco’s support team also notes that a lift typically needs about one bottle of oil per year — which is why the drive screw oil change is built into both of our care plans.

Every fifth year, the inspection goes deeper: guide shoes, the drive screw and drive nut, and the points where the lift is fixed to your home.

Owner checklist: what to do and what to avoid

Most of the technical work belongs to the technician. Your part is simple, and it makes a real difference between visits.

DoDon’t
Use the lift regularly so you notice changes earlyLet the lift sit unused for months without a check
Clean the car interior with a soft, dry or slightly damp clothSpray water or cleaning liquid directly on the control panel, buttons, or door edges
Vacuum dust and grit from door tracks and thresholdsPush objects, toys, or pet hair into the gaps around the doors and floor
Keep the area around the lift clear of obstaclesBlock the doors or safety edges with furniture, bags, or boxes
Use the key lock when you want to stop children from using the lift aloneOverride, tape, or bypass any safety feature
Keep HD’s hotline and the emergency call numbers up to dateLet anyone else open panels, oil, or adjust the lift
Book your preventive visits on timeUse non-Aritco oil, grease, or “local” spare parts
Use only HD Homelift authorized techniciansRun the lift without any maintenance

The last four “Don’ts” come straight from our care guide, and they matter for more than performance. Genuine Aritco consumables and spare parts are imported from Sweden, and following the recommended service schedule is how you keep your Aritco warranty valid.

Home lift maintenance for Philippine conditions

Aritco lifts are developed and produced in Järfälla, Sweden, but they’re used every day in Philippine homes. A few local realities are worth planning for.

Humidity

High humidity and long rainy seasons are hard on anything with electronics and moving parts. Keep the room around the lift well ventilated, wipe surfaces dry instead of wet-mopping near the lift, and don’t let water from mops or umbrellas pool at the lift entrance. During preventive visits, our technicians check the doors, buttons, switches, and lighting — the parts most exposed to daily handling and moisture.

Dust and renovation debris

Dust from nearby roads, construction, or your own renovation can collect in door tracks and around the platform. Aritco notes that small objects blocking the safety edges can trigger a fault, so vacuum the tracks and thresholds regularly. If you’re renovating, cover the lift entrance and let us know — fine construction dust is worth an extra check.

Typhoons

Before a typhoon:

  • Save HD’s hotline and email where the whole family can find them.
  • Make sure the emergency call numbers programmed in the lift still work.
  • Close windows near the lift so wind-driven rain doesn’t reach the car or the landing doors.

Before a typhoon, we recommend parking the lift at any floor except the ground floor or basement. Once the lift is parked, switch off the power at the main breaker to protect the system from potential electrical surges or power fluctuations.

Flooding

If floodwater reaches the floor where your lift is installed, treat it as a safety issue:

  • Don’t use the lift until it has been inspected.
  • Only switch off power at the breaker if you can do so safely and without standing in water.
  • Call the HD Homelift Care Team before turning the lift back on.

Water and electrical systems don’t mix, and some damage isn’t visible from the outside. An inspection after a flood costs far less than a repair after a failure.

Brownouts: how your Aritco home lift keeps you safe

Brownouts and scheduled power interruptions are part of life in many parts of the country. Aritco’s SmartSafety system is designed so a power cut doesn’t leave anyone stuck.

  • Battery lowering. If the power fails while the lift is between floors, a spare battery activates and takes the lift to the nearest floor so you can step out.
  • Battery protection. The battery has a built-in function that stops it from running down while the house has no power.
  • Emergency lowering from outside. Every Aritco lift includes electrical emergency operation, so the lift can be lowered to the nearest landing from the service panel outside the lift, at a slow 0.8 m per minute.
  • Emergency call. The alarm button is connected to an autodialer that calls pre-programmed numbers. Aritco says it can be set to call several numbers until someone answers.
  • No free fall. The screw-and-nut drive, with dual safety brakes, means the lift won’t fall if a fault occurs.

What to do on your side

  • Teach everyone in the household — including helpers and elderly family members — where the alarm button is and what happens when they press it.
  • Review the programmed emergency numbers whenever a family member changes their phone number.
  • Remember that the backup battery is a consumable. Both HD care plans include one free battery if it’s found faulty during inspection.

The autodialer is typically configured to connect to the guardhouse or to a designated person who is always available inside the house to receive emergency calls.

Warning signs it’s time to call a technician

Before you call, run through a quick self-check. Aritco points out that many “the lift won’t move” situations come from an emergency stop button that was pressed by accident, or a small object blocking a safety edge. Also check whether the key lock is engaged.

If those are fine, call the HD Homelift Care Team when you notice:

  • Grinding, squeaking, scraping, or knocking sounds that weren’t there before
  • Jerky starts or stops, or vibration during travel
  • The platform stopping above or below floor level
  • Doors that reverse repeatedly, close unevenly, or don’t lock
  • Alerts or error messages in the SmartLift app
  • Buttons, displays, or lights that don’t respond
  • The lift stopping between floors when the power is on
  • A burning smell, flickering lights, or water near the lift

Aritco warns that misaligned doors alone can stop the lift from operating. Small issues tend to become bigger ones, so don’t wait for the next scheduled visit.

How much does home lift maintenance cost in the Philippines?

HD Homelift Solutions offers two comprehensive care plans and pay-per-visit options. Prices below are for residential home lifts, are VAT exclusive, and were last updated May 15, 2024. They’re subject to change, so confirm current rates with our team.

Minor parts include items like door frame contacts, sensors, friction pad kits, washers, connectors, and flange bearings. Repairs and spare parts are charged separately on à la carte visits.

How the numbers compare: at the à la carte emergency rate, the four emergency visits included in both plans are worth ₱80,000 on their own. Add two scheduled visits (₱30,000), and the same visits would cost ₱110,000 before any parts — more than double the Platinum Care price for a 2-stop home lift.

Why genuine parts and authorized technicians matter

It can be tempting to call a general technician or buy a cheaper local part. With an Aritco home lift, that’s a false economy.

  • Training. HD’s maintenance team is trained directly by Swedish Aritco-certified technicians and follows global standards.
  • Parts. All consumables and spare parts, minor and major, are imported from Aritco in Sweden.
  • Warranty. Following Aritco’s service schedule is what keeps your warranty valid.
  • Longevity. Aritco guarantees parts for at least 10 years, and the company says many of its lifts from the 1990s are still running. Proper servicing is how you get there.

Note: HD Homelift Solutions services the Aritco home lifts we supply and install. We don’t maintain other lift brands.

Frequently asked questions

How often should an Aritco home lift be serviced?

Aritco recommends the first service six months after installation, then at least one service every year, with an extended inspection every five years. HD Homelift Solutions’ residential care plans include two preventive maintenance visits per year.

How much does home lift maintenance cost in the Philippines?

For residential Aritco home lifts serviced by HD Homelift Solutions, Platinum Care starts at ₱50,000 and Diamond Care at ₱239,000 for a 2-stop lift (VAT exclusive, as of May 15, 2024). Single visits cost ₱15,000 for scheduled maintenance and ₱20,000 for an emergency visit, with parts charged separately.

What happens to my home lift during a brownout?

If the power fails while the lift is between floors, a backup battery takes it to the nearest floor so you can get out. The lift can also be lowered from the service panel outside, and the alarm button can call pre-programmed emergency numbers.

Can I do home lift maintenance myself?

You can keep the lift clean, clear the door tracks, and use it regularly. Lubrication, adjustments, part replacements, and electrical work should only be done by HD Homelift authorized technicians using genuine Aritco parts, to keep the lift safe and the warranty valid.

Does HD Homelift Solutions maintain other lift brands?

No. HD Homelift Solutions is the certified Philippine partner of Aritco and maintains the Aritco home lifts it supplies and installs, using technicians trained by Aritco and parts imported from Sweden.
